She runs...

I've cleaned the last relay (#4)

Put them in order to match the schematic.

Opened the computer to check for dry solders or bad connections.

Just found some oxidation on wires, but nothing else.

The fabric was falling apart; the duct tape is to avoid metal to metal contact with the cover under the dash. If I hear vibrations I'll replace it with thin foam.

She runs like a Swiss watch and purr like a kitten!

Troubleshooting...

I borrowed a Bosch analyzer but the needle gets stuck at 3V. It was still useful on some tests.

The calculator under the dashboard.

The analyzer is plugged in between the calculator and the plug from the wiring harness.

Testing the 3 relays; I had some confusing result. Read more below...

Found a cut wire going to the cold start injector.

The joy of troubleshooting a DS IE...

I have soldered both plugs going to the cold start injector.

Trying to follow all the wires coming and going to the 3 relays...

The pump relay had a bad connection; this will explain the problem we had last year with the pump.

Now I know why i was getting confused. After looking at the schematic and following all the wires, turned out that relay 3, 4 and 5 were actually 3, 5 and 4 on the car.

Since the analyzer does not check the calculator, I am going to open the calculator and inspect it for dry solder or bad connections. I'll clean the last relay and put everything back together.

1970 DS21 IE

First, I have changed the oil which was badly diluted by the injectors #2 and #4 that were spitting gas all the time. Hopefully the bearings did not suffer.

The distributor was removed to access the trigger points that the computer needs in order to know the position of the engine at any given time.

They were dirty.

I've used a 3M "dum dum" to seal the door.

Yep, somewhere under there are the injectors...

The manifold

1, 2, 3 and 4

Injectors #4 and #3...

... #2 and #1. The are working. 3.1 Ohms resistance, they don't leak under 29psi of pressure and when I apply 3V they open.

I have plugged the wires and tested. #2 and #4 are spitting gas. When I unplug the injectors they stop spitting. The computer is sending 3V to these for some reasons. The grounds to the injectors are good also. Unfortunately it is not consistent. Sometime they work.

Next: Diagnose the computer.
